John Hartford, Norman Blake, Vassar Clements, Tut Taylor and Randy Scruggs joined producer David Bromberg at Electric Lady Studios in New York, New York in 1971. Often hailed as the birth of newgrass, both the album and the Aereo-Plain band are often cited as major influences on the current generation of progressive bluegrass pickers.
